Tango Berretin Summer Rides

It’s summer and if you have a bike, come find out how easy and safe it is to ride to Tango Berretin. This ride is a leisurely cruise through southeast Portland along some great bike routes featuring big trees, handsome houses and very little traffic.

Dates: Saturday July 19th. August 2nd and 16th.
Time: 9pm

Program: The Tango Berretin ride meets at Staccato Gelato (NE 28th between Davis and Everett) at 9pm. Get some gelato, hang out. The ride leaves for Berretin at 9:30pm.
This gives you a 30 minute window in which to arrive for the ride.
We should arrive at Berretin around 10pm.

There’s a map with the route. If you live anywhere near the route feel free to join up with us on the way.

A white light is required on the front of your bike to ride at night.
Make sure you have your lights ready and working before Saturday night!

The ride meets at Staccato Gelato (NE 28th and Davis) at 9pm Saturday July 5th.
Get some gelato, hang out. The ride leaves for Berretin at 9:30pm.
This gives you a 30 minute window in which to arrive for the ride.
We should arrive at Berretin around 10pm.

When I go to Berretin, I always ride my bike anyway, and I keep an open invitation for anyone who wants to join me on this great ride. This time I’m not going alone. No pressure, really No shows at Staccato Gelato and I’m just going to sit there and eat gelato all night. I can take it.

You’ve heard the talk about riding, but are wondering who is actually riding a bike to tango. I’ll get some more pictures up as the come available. Fortunately, while I was reading the Portland tango mailing list the other day, I found a bunch of pictures from Bill Alsup’s Sunday practica. If you live in Portland, you will find that Bill enjoys bikes a lot, but how could you know about all the other people who ride a bike to tango? Here are a few that Bill captured just at the Sunday practicas.

Valentango Midnight Ride

Meet around midnight on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at Tiffany Center (1410 SW Morrison St.)
Free coffee provided.

Enjoy spectacular night time views of the city as we ride through downtown, across the Steel Bridge and along the water down the east side esplanade to the Chelsea Ballroom.

This is a leisurely ride supportive of formal attire.

What? No bike, but you still want to ride? Rent a bike. Borrow a bike. Maybe, just maybe, as a matter of fact I know for sure, there will be a tandem or two with a free seat on the back. Come meet us at midnight if you want the classiest ride possible across town.
